Unfortunately, neither the MBA nor the 1 year post-graduate Marketing Management programmes are not equal with the academic MA/MSc. The different is:

• The MA/MSC programmes can be taken only on the same field as the students BA/BSc degree, So, for example, if someone has a BA in Psychology, he/she can’t continue his/her studies with an MA/MSC in Economics, because he/she hasn’t got the required knowledge for that. The MA/MSc increases the student’s academic qualification to a higher degree in the same fieldas his/her original BA/BSC degree.
• The post-graduate programmes, however, extend the field of expertise and competence, but don’t increase the academic level. For example, if someone has a BA in Psychology, can attend a post-graduate course in any field and become  a Marketing Manager or Business Executive, etc. But the l academic level of his/her qualification will be the same as it was with his/he  previous degree (if it was a BA then, remains a bachelor, if it was an MA, then remains a Master). All in all, the post-graduate courses are useful if someone either wants to work in a different field from his/her original qualification, or wants to work in the same field but wants to acquire managerial skills to be suitable for a managerial position.

PhD studies can be based only on academic MA/MSC degrees, so those who want to be university professors or researchers in the future should pursue MA/MSC studies, not post-graduate programmes.
